I know this has been beaten to death, but again; I plan to put Bassani X pipe w/ two chamber Flowmasters on my car.  Is this a good setup?  What else will I need to complete the new exhaust?  I want headers put on and I have no clue what to use in this department.  Is there any place that sells all aftermarket parts like Exhaust and headers where I can flip through a catolog and see how much its going to run me?  Oh, and if the above exhaust isn't a good setup, what is?  What is everyone else running with?  And do you have soundclips of them so I can hear?  Thanks! The Bassani X Pipe with two chamber flows will sound very good. I spend a lot of time on the cell phone in the car it does make it a little hard to hear. I love it, so I put up with it. About your headers I run the BBK Equal lengths. Most of the aftermarket headers are good for stock or mildly modified stangs. You will though however not want to get chrome headers because after a few hours of heat they willl turn purple then just get nasty looking. If you want some flash there get the jet hot coated ones they are more but tend to hold their shine longer. Two other things to consider equal length vs. shorties and weather it has a flange. Let me explain, Equal lengths while are supposed to be better they do severly restrict the ease of spark plug changes. The flange around the tubes that connect to the header side does make it harder to get the bolt hole to line up if there is any misalignment to start with. This is my .02 cents worth hope it helps.   Dale Brown

I have a 94 GT conv. I have installed Mac equal length headers with Mac off road H-pipe, 2 chamber flow masters. I did all the work myself. The installation was pretty straight forward. The biggest problem was indeed getting the plugs back in on the rear cylinders.  Space got tight in other places too like near the clutch cable. Still I did it all in a day without any help except from my 10 year old son grabbing tools for me :-). As for sound, my system I've been told sounds really good and deep. I like the tones myself.  As for power I don't think there but 1 or 2 hp between a X pipe and H pipe ver the cost of the two pipes.  Craig

Mike, The bassani x pipe is a great choice, however flowmasters suck IMO.
This is from experience on my sons 88GT. We purchased the car which was stock
except for the flowmasters. After many mods ( aprox $5000) including headers &
x-pipe, the last change was to change the cat-back to dyno-max. All I can say about
the change is WOW, until one has the opertunity to experience the difference first
hand, its hard to understand. It pulls stronger throughout the full rpm band plus.
The peak power pull was aprox. 5000-5200,but now it pulls strong to 6000.

Why do Flowmasters suck.  I haven't had any problems with mine.  I've had two set.  The first ones were 2.5" 3 chamber.  They are now 6 years old and on a buddy's car doing fine.  I now have 3" 2 chamber on my car.  They are 2 years old and not the first problem.  I serious doubt you can feel the difference unless your mufflers were stopped up..  I've got a Dynomax cat-back on my wifes SHO.  It uses the Super Turbos.  After 1.5 years they rusted slap off the car..  Yes they replace them but my wifes car sat for 3 months while they came up with some..     They certainly don't cost you very much in hp.  I only gained 11RWHP  when I took mine off on the dyno and ran open exhaust.  Now if this was a stock type car that would be a lot of loss.  But my car made 591RWHP with the Flows and 602RWHP without them...IMHO that's a very minor loss at those HP levels..   Gerald
