Hi all,
I was recently in an accident with my big Bronco. We decided not to total it. However, i'm having one problem with it, and i'm not sure if it's serious...Previous to the accident, the column shifter worked fine, moved smoothly. Since the accident, it has been VERY hard to move the shift lever. Any ideas what could have caused this? A pinched cable maybe? the tranny shifts gears fine in D/OD and all gears work. Any ideas?

TIA,

-Tiny

Was your Bronco hit in the front end? How seriously? It is possible the frame could have shifted, moving the steering sector shaft, which MAY have caused a bind in the shifter thru the column in the engine bay

I would check out the steering linkage.... It will be on the upper-driver's side of the transmission. It might be possible that it might got smacked out of alignment or something like that. If you are still stumped, look for a transmission shop that does free estimates and then fix what they find to be the problem.
