ok, I have two 12" diamond audio subs with a 1000 watt Mtx amp but i'm not sure whether or not I should keep the stock head unit. Will the stock Hu sound any good? What aftermarket Hu would be best for around 300? The main reason that I want to get rid of is because volume control sucks. It's either to soft or too loud.

And will I need to drill through the firewall during my installation? If so, where is the best spot to do this?

Thanks

Don't know too much about audio, but I do know you need to check with your dealership about drilling through the firewall...it may void part and/or all of your warrenty becuase your changing the structure of the car...just my 2 cents

Phil

Hey
i just installed a system into my mercury grand marquis and when installing my amp and head unit i didnt need to drill holes in the fire wall because the wires for my stock unit already had the wires feed through a hole in the wall.
if u need to check it out by just following some wires on the fire wall.
And for the head unit i choose a sony mdx600 that is around 300 dollars and is very good. it have very good and nice sound and u can practically control evrything on it. i am running two 12 inch JBL's and it sounds wonderful.
