Does anyone know what the dealers use as a wax/glaze/dressing ? Mine looked great when I got it from the dealer but the wax or whatever it was seems to come off with the first washing. I would like to get that slick look back.

Thanks...

i am not sure what type of waxes are used by the dealer but if it comes off after one or two washings i think there are many better products worth looking at on the market. i personally prefer meguiar's waxes and polishes for my zx3. i use everything from the cleaner paste to the carnuba wax. also i prefer not to use a buffer as it may put swirls in your clearcoat if too much pressure is applied. just observe some black cars out on the road for a perfect example. of course it's more time consuming to do the job by hand with a towel but to me it's worth it. also look at mothers or turtle wax these are also good products. whatever you end up using be sure not to let any of these waxes or pastes set up on the black molding of your car because it's a b*tch to get off! also black chrome by turtle wax is good to restore a deep black finish that almost looks wet to the molding. good luck with your detailing.
thanx,
Sokrgo7

The dealership explained to me that the factory uses a "spray protectant" for shipping purposes only. Apparently it's to protect the finish from dust/bird poop and other "temporary" contaminants during shipment from the factory to the dealership. Seemed to make sense to me, but could be total BS(?)...

Remember . . . Keep it Focused!!

one word of advice- don't use dish detergent to wash your car. Also, use a good quality shampoo wash like meguairs
