The 88 T-bird I have has a smog pump .... there is a hose running from the pump to a box along the front cornerpanel....the connection going into the box is broke off, I guess I could j.b. weld it but in the state of Illinois there is no smog inspections required...can I take the smog pump off without messing with the engine harmonics??

mustang guys pull the smog pump all the time, won't hurt at all. There is a kit to replace the pulley where the smog pump is mounted to get it off the car all together. Saves a little wieghtand it takes a little drag off of the engine. I have a 4.6 and no pump so I haven't really looked for the kitsbut I know they make them, so look around the web.
