Hi everyone,
I was wondering if anyone had a good idea on who makes a good quality winter tire I could purchase for my ZX3.
I'm not keen on the brands out there and the quality of the different rubbers.
I'd consider with or without studs.
Thanks :)
Chelly
2002 ZX3 PP Yellow
(just hit 2000 miles)

Go to tirerack.com and get the Pirelli Winter 210 SnowSport. I have them on ZX3 and Windstar - they are good on ice and snow, and just as quiet as stock tires. Expensive but worth it.

Most good stock M&S tires are ok for winter unless you live in Minisota. Alaska or somewhere such as that. I only see snow when I drive to it here in San Diego, but these Firehawk tires must go. I had great luck with the BFG tire in the snow as well as Michelin and Bridgestone (I know, Firestone, Bridgestone Same thing, but I kinda like the bridges even like their motorcycle tires.) And Dunlap of course makes a good all around tire. If you use your head any good radial works well in snow, since the tire was designed to shed the snow, the ice problem only can be helped by studs, and I really hate the sound of 456 golf spikes on the side of my tires.

Well, I'm in Maine...We usually have at least a foot on the ground from Mid December till April at least! It's been quiet, TOO quiet around here. I'm afraid I'll be caught with my "treads" down. LOL! :)
I also live in a very hilly area of the coast. People in San Francisco can relate here. Especially with the ice that forms under the snow.

Thank you All for your responses. I'll hunt and tell you what I find.

Laters!

~Chelly

I bought some Bridgestone Blizzaks for my focus zx3. A lot better than the junk goodyears. But snow and ice your going to slide some. THe blizzaks are good though.

Thanks!

Actually I'm really impressed (so far) with the performance of this car in snow and ice.

We've been really low on snow this year (very unusual indeed!).

I've noticed if I can get it into 2nd fairly early in the RPMs I get better traction.

I love the wide wheel base this car has! It's like my 4Runner was. I'm so impressed.

Later all!
~Chelly
