A good setup would be an iceman intake, ford
racing underdrive pulley, shorty headers ( jba,
pacesetter, dc sports, focus sport, take your pick!), MSD
superconductor plug wires, Motorcraft platinum plugs ( the Bosch
are shorter than stock and can cause detonation
problems ), diablo sport chip, 65mm throttle body, pro-maf
( thats an upgrade to the sensor on your intake,
makes sure the ecu up's the fuel volume to account for
the new throttle body and air intake). I would stay
away from the AEM intake systems, they can take away
from your low end power. The AEM short ram sucks in
hot air, so it wont give you as big a boost in power
as a cold air system. Cold air systems like the AEM
can also be dangerous, because the filter sits so
close to the ground. If its raining, or if their is
high water you'll suck it right into the engine, and
then you'll be in a world of hurt. Unless you get the
bypass valve, which AEM makes. It prevents that from
happening. The reason i recommend the iceman is because of
the material, and the ease of installation. It sits
in the same spot as the stock intake. Accept that it
removes all the air restriction add ons, and it keeps hot
engine temps out of the air supply. It also uses the
stock airbox, but replaces the filter with a K&N high
flow filter. The tubing is also larger, as is the
front opening of the intake. More air, cold air, equals
more low end power. Also, ford racing uses the iceman
on their 300+ hp focus. Its a good bet their onto
something. And the iceman is cheaper than the AEM CAI. The
hardest thing's to install would have to be the headers
and the underdrive crank pulley. Fortunately i have
access to a lift and nice tools. AS far as brakes go,
yeah, the stopping power could be alot better.
Converting the rear brakes to disc would solve that problem,
but it is also quite expensive. Plus, bigger brakes
may not clear the stock rims, another expensive item.
Hope i was of some help. Can always email me if ya got
more questions.
