Can anybody tell me the size speakers that are in my 96PSE? I also want to know how I get into the speakers. Do the covers come off of them or do I get to rip off the whole inner door skin? Also what about the back panels and the speakers behind them? Thanks a lot, Chad

Yes, you do have to remove the front door panels and the rear side panels. The rear panels are very tricky, let a shop do it unless you know what you are doing. As far as sizes, you have 5 1/4" round speakers up front, and 5x8" oval speakers in the rear. There is more than enough room in the rear to have 6x9"'s cut in if you want, the 5x8"'s are kinda pricy. I cut in 8" subs in my rear panels, so 6x9"'s are a piece of cake for a shop that has half a clue. Good luck, Steve

The 96 probes have 6 1/2 inch speakers up front, and a 6x8 in the rear (meaning that you can use a 5x7 or a 6x8, they come with dual mounting holes). Ford changed the speaker size over the years, the 93 used 7" front and 6x8 rear. Yup, you will have to take off the interior door panel up front, and the back panels for the rear. Ive never attempted either one. The closest we got to that is having to remove a couple of fasteners from them when we installed Illumina's in the PSE. If you do this yourself, be careful with the plastic panel fasteners, the break easily, we broke about 3 in all, and keep track of which screws go where, since they may not all be the same length and you dont lose any. I would also like to add to Bryan's reply that if you do break any fasteners that the Ford garage can order them for you at a reletively low cost. Also, for the "button" fasteners , if you don't have the removal tool , try to GENTLY pry them with 2 flathead screwdrivers. Good Luck- Nicholas A. Manka

Chad, The Eclipse speakers are a good choice. I have the 6.5" 2-ways up front and the 5x7" 2 ways in the rear. They sound incredible. It will sound better once i get my 2 JL Audio 10W3's next week. (very excited). Mark Light '95PSE ATX SCPOC

I ended up with the 5.2 5 1/4" separates from Kicker up front and back. I had a plate built for the back set to enable the mid and tweet to sit behind the grill. These are also running on a Fosgate 800a4 amp, pushing 100watts all the way around. Oh, and the pair of 12" Fosgate DVC subs are being pushed by a Fosgate 360a2 amp breathing 360watts to each sub. I had the work done at CJ Sounds here in Houston. They do great work, a little pricey, but worth it in my book. Glen Bishop 97base ATX Houston, TX solution@...
