Hello guys and gals,

My name is Justen and I am new to this forum. I have a 03 f150 5.4 v8 heritage edition truck. I am starting to get a sweak coming from under the hood. Not really sure what this could be. It sounds like a tazer zapping on and off. I dont know if I should start by replacing the belts, or if I should look into getting a new altanator. Any suggestions????? Your help is greatly appreciated!

Personally I would check your belts first. I have never had an alternator squeak when it is going bad. Hopefully it is just something minor.

A tazer? don't understand what you mean!

I'd take a look at your belts first and foremost. Having your alternator replaced to cure an unidentified squeak sounds a bit drastic (and expensive) right now.

A tazor sound to me makes me think you are referring to an electrical spark time sound. Am I incorrect? If not wiring should be checked for safety.
