I recently purchased a 95 GT Vert with the Mach 460 sound system w/o a CD player. I went to the local sound shop to pick up the latest car CD player, but the clerks told me that I should stick with what I had and try to get a stock CD player. They said the new CD player would "Short out" the stereo system because the Mach components are all tuned and changing one would cause problems. So, is this true? Am I stuck with stock stereo unless I upgrade the entire system? They also said that the speakers were tuned for their spaces so trying to put a new speaker in there would be futile. Any information you have would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Jason.

I own a 95 GT too. Replacing the stereo is easy with the MACH460. All you need is an adapter to use with the line outs of your new head unit and connects to the ford plug. I think the adapter cost me $12 at the local stereo shop. Don't get an adapter for the speaker outs, I tried this first and barely turning up the volume will about blow you out of the car. As for the speakers, I replaced the door speakers with pioneer 6x8's, fit perfect and sound great. As for the pods in your rear window, there are two speakers in there a 6x8 and a 1" ( I think ). These can be replaced individually. As for my head unit, it is a Sony cdx-600 XPLOD(black face that flips down and has all the crazy graphics on it when left up). It has worked great for the past year now with now problems. Also try to get a head unit with at least two sets of line outs (front and back) so you will have use of the fader control. A third set is great if you plan on running a sub too. Hope this helps.
