Custom Auto Sound makes stereos specifically for Mustangs and other older car models that are made to fit without cutting into the dash. They also dress them up with faces that match the interior of the particular model car your buying it for. I've been thinking of buying one of their systems for my car, but I can't seem to find anyone who can tell me if they are any good. I don't know anyone who has installed one, and there are not any stores in my area who sell them. Before I drop $500 bucks on one of their systems with a CD changer, I'd like to hear from someone who has one or has heard one. Can anyone tell me if they make a quality product? Have any of you guys installed one? If anyone is interested I can post a link to their website. They are pretty expensive, but if I could get something good that would fit in my console, it might be worth it. Thanks, Scott

I had a Custom Autosound installed in my '66 a couple years ago, and couldn't be happier with the unit and the sound. I'm considering their behind the back seat amp/woofer system to improve my sound. My unit has the RCA jack to plug into a CD player (like a Discman) and it works like a charm. I highly recommend their products. By the way, I bought mine from a classic parts dealer and had it installed by a local stereo shop. The installation cost around $50 a couple years ago. Good luck and enjoy your pony car! Roger

Scott, Look through several of the reproduced parts catalogs to see if you can find a better price. The stereos are worth the money; most of them are at least JVC quality, some even Kenwood, but you don't want to drop $500 into it, if you don't have to. Contact places like Dallas Mustang, or National Parts Depot. They are usually pretty good. I know National Parts Depot has had the stereos listed in their Mustang catalog, but I don't recall part numbers or prices, at this time. Good luck, Jason
