What kind brake pads are you guys use'n for your t-birds. It's about time for a break job on my 95LX and I want to set it up with some good pads. I don't really know anything about brakes or performance pads. Guy at the autoparts store said they had like 4 diff kinds that would fit, for like $14 up to $50 a set. Do I really need $50 pads are they that much better? Thanks Powermax_X

If you want a good pad and don't want to spend a fortune, go for the mid grade set. It'll cost ya about 20 to 25 bucks but, the extra stopping power is worth the money. I have an '85 T-bird and I run the top of the line Performance Friction pads. Costs me a bit more than the stockers but, I'd rather pay extra for the added safety! powermax_x

the best brake pads I have found for serious stopping power are the Raybestos Brute Stops. the brakes were designed by Nascar, and from personnal experience I WILL NOT use anything else unless they don't make them for my application. for example I have a 97 30th anniv. Cougar with the sport package and they do not make them for the sport package (I guess they didn't make many Cougars with the sport brake and suspension packages). I had run them on my 93 F-150 and talk about stopping on a dime and giving 9 cent change!! The only down fall with the Brute Stops is they wear the rotors a little faster then the cheap pads will, but like Mike said "stopping power is worth the money" they run about $50 a set. Unless you spent the $80-100 for the carbon fiber or the kevlar pads (which will wear out the rotors just like the Brute Stops will) you will not find a better brake pad. Good luck, Jack Pierce
