Drives: 2002 Escape XL 3.o V6, 2005 Focus ZX3, 1992 F250 7.3L XLT 4x4
Location: Southwestern PA
I just purchased a 2002 Escape XLT 4x4 with 80000miles on it. It passes inspection, but there is a thumping sound in the front end, especially when it is cold, when you go over bumps. I have inspected the struts, and they seem to be ok, no leaks and they "bounce" ok. The dealer said that they have problems with Escapes and their plastic dust guards on their upper bushings? They crack and get dust in them. Has anyone else heard of this? They recommended replacing the upper strut mounts if we don't like the noise.

Its problem of dust actually I face this problem before. You need to go to your mechanic to fix it.
