The OEM struts are gone. What is the best price for OEM replacements? What is a good upgrade? I've decided I don't want the tokico 5-way. I want to stay as close to the cost of OEM ($70/strut at Kragen) without compromising the ride. ps: stiffer is better; If I wanted an MX6 I would have bought one :-) - john weaver -- jweaver@... | don't be a sheep, people eat sheep.

I went with the KYB's which I believe are a tad stiffer than my stocks. I could be wrong on that, but I'm happy with them none the less. I believe I paid $69 a corner through CB Performance. They're supposed to be a bit better than OEM especially if you're lowered on springs, as lowering will tend to cause the strut to operate in a different "range" of motion than stock height. Stocks tend to blow and show heat fatigue, where as the KYB's were supposed to be more resistant to this "phenomenon". I'm just speaking from memory when I got mine back in April/May. At any rate, they're worth checking out. e-mail CBPerform@... for more info. -Rick '93 Base

At what sort of mileage did your struts go?

Because I cut my coils, I was constantly bottoming the struts out, or coming close. I replaced them mostly because I stripped the threads on one, and ruined a mount. When I pulled them out, however, the shafts did kinda fall into the bore vs. staying out or popping up as they should. Replacement came at roughly 75,000 miles. I'm at 107.3k now, and the KYB's are fine so far. HTH -Rick '93 Base
