Does anyone know if the struts from a '95 base will fit a '93 base? I believe I heard someone say that in '95 the struts were KYB Gr-2's, correct me if I'm wrong. So, I was thinking, instead of having to order them and pay shipping, I could get factory ones for a '95 (at cost from my cousin who works at a Ford dealer), and still have the KYB's to go with the Eibach's I'm getting ready to order and save a little money at the same time. Thanks, Mike '93 base--soon to have Eibach's :)

They should fit just fine, no matter who makes the struts, as long as they are from a 2nd gen Probe, or even a MX6/626, they all have the same basic suspension pieces, just different swaybars and springs in certain models (i.e base/SE/GT). So Id go for it. Good luck with the EIbachs, youll love them. :) Dedric Ramsey dedric@...

I have heard this before (that the factories are KYB's), but I have no evidence that it is true. I am sure, but not positive, that the OEM struts are the same for 93-95, 93-97 for that matter. Enjoy, Bryan Pendleton >

I went and looked at the old struts off my brothers 95 SE. The fronts are definately KYB's, the rear arent marked KYB, they only had part numbers and Made in U.S.A. The knuckle mounts look very close to the front, paint looks the same too, so I think they too are KYB's. Dedric Ramsey dedric@...

I put the KYB GR-2's in my '93 Base. They're not stock, that's for sure, at least for mine. I went w/ the Intrax coils, however, because of the .5" additional drop. The struts should be compatable across the board between '93 Base to '97 GT. HTH, -Rick '93 Base w/ stuff

Problem is that "stock" struts can't generally handle the spring rates of lowered and/or racing springs. They were made to handle the spring rates of a stock spring. Going with a Strut that can handle the spring rate will take that harshness out of the ride and stop the hard hits that feel like bottoming out when driving down the road.. Eibachs come in many flavors depending on if you just want to lower your car, road race, autox, drag race, etc... depending on which springs you get will depend on which struts you need to get to match them. Basically for the new springs to work right, you need struts that can handle them... I went with Eibach Comp Pros and stock struts for a time, ended up buying Konis for the racing I do... makes a big difference.. If you aren't racing and don't want to spend allot of money on struts, and didn't buy 900# springs, you can sometimes get away with a KYB or something. Your local mustang speed shop should know a good strut to work with the springs you bought.. A koni Yellow or a Tokico 5 way adjustable is going to cost a minor fortune.. but well worth the money if you are a serious racer... > I have a question. I have a '87 mustang LX 5.0 that i just put eibach > lowering springs on. They are supposed to lower the car 2 to 2.5 > inches. If i put stock replacement struts & shocks on the car, will > this cause a problem? I don't want them to bottom out. Thanks!! >
