I was looking on that superchips.com web site and is it really true that you can get +40Hp from a computer chip ? Has anybody tried this?

The claim of a 40hp gain is assuming that you have the chip custom tuned to YOUR car by using a dyno, which all adds extra money to the cost of your chip. I bought a HyperTech chip for my 90 XR7 3.8 SC and I could tell a difference in the performance. At the track I cut off 3 tenths with the chip. Superchip does produce a good product but I feel that that increase by chip alone is a little extream for thier basic chip.
Later,
Brad
ChevyMC81@...

A 40HP gain from a chip is pure BS unless you have very extensive mods and have the car professionally dyno tuned. You will actually get an increase of 10-15HP if you order the chip and install it yourself, maybe 20HP if you get the car professionally tuned.

Ken

Yeah, Superchip i a great company... just make sure you are getting a chip made by them..... alot of places claim to be selling the "superchip name" however it's a cheap remake that will cause you headaches... the price should warn you away from any fakers. I don't know how well they work for our probe first hand... but i do know that if you do get one it raises the rev limiter/top out speed.... be carefull though..chip can make you think all is fine n dandy then you overrev a stock engine because you think you can a kaboom it's all over. so a chip is best used in a slightly upgraded engine or more.. I didn't drive anything while my car was gone. I just got rides from some friends. Also, I know that the Si and the PGT were sticks. I'm not sure about the Camaro. Also, these weren't just small wins. I stomped on the Si and the Camaro by a lot. Jordan
