I have a 94 LX with a 4.6. So far I've removed the air silencer, drilled the mass air flow sensor, and put on a dynomax cat back kit. I just tried recently to buy a chip, but the code on the computer came back not valid in superchips book. the code is E4A3. Has anyone ran into this problem and what would be the cure. One other problem is ever since I have owned the car it rattles in front on the passenger side it's got about 80k on it. I've checked the bearings and looked for anything loose, and nothing. Please help!

May i ask why you drilled the mass air flow sensor?? As for your rattling in the front end...inspect your tie rods and check your coil springs. My front end rattles really bad,it turns out both of my coil springs are collapsed and broken on the bottom. Ford made a major error with the front end suspension on most of their cars and trucks...poor design.

I've read that if you drill the MAF sampling hole to 29/32 it will enrichen the mixture and increase power it only works on 4.6's. It seemed to help at lower rpm but hit my EPA to about 19/20. It did however help with the tranny, it firmed up the shifts.

the best chip for our cars are made by inject tech....go to www.tccoa.com. this is the thunderbird and cougar website, LOTS of info on here. Be careful with your mass air....would have been better to get an after market one.

well the drilling of the mass air sensor is not something wise to do for the little it adds. In theory it works but in my opinion not worth the 3-4 hp or .5-1hp at the rear wheels to possibly damage a $200 maf (mass air flow) sensor. just my $.02. anyway jack the front end of the car off the ground(one side at a time) and rock the wheels back and forth (not in the turning direction push the bottom in and the top out like that. You may have bad ball joints the t-birds and cougars are notorious for wearing out upper ball joints expecially if you like to corner hard. if it is loose replace them with poly-urethane ones well woth the extra $40 per ball joint. also turn the wheel in the steering motion and look at the play in the tie rod ends both inner and outer they should be solid if there is play they are probably bad. and if evering thing is tight and all else fails have someone push on teh front end while you look to see if anything is loose or hitting.<br><br>Later<br>DWayne
