I am replacing a badly cracked and broken tailight on a '97 xlt and have found several '96 explorers being parted out and can get a deal on tailight. My question is whether a tailight from '96 will fit a '97 body. I am not familiar enough with the lineage to know if there was a body design change between these model years. Thanks in advance for your help!

I don't know if the size is the same, but the style is different. Does anybody know the year break ups? 91-93 square 94-96 less square 97-99 rounded 00-02 still round 03 -   square again I believe these are the breaks in styles. I get confused due to selling 99s in 98.and so fourth     Chris Robertson
