The other day I was driving behind a pea green car, I was so appalled by the colour that I didn't take much notice of the make. It made me wonder what would make someone choose a new car in that colour. We have come a long way since Henry Ford famously offered the Model T in 'any colour so long as it's black' but I think perhaps there are limits! I read somewhere that the three most popular colours for cars are blue, red and silver, but I believe black is increasing in popularity. What do you think is the best colour? Can colour choice influence safety or resale value?

I don't know how true it is, but I had heard that green was an unpopular choice on the secondhand market as the colour is said to be unlucky.

It would certainly put me off buying a car if it was green. I saw a bright pink car the other day, I would imagine that would have a very limited market too

I think that I would buy a black car because you couldn't easily the dirt on it. It makes it looks clean.

Yesterday I saw a car in town that combined two really horrible colours, it was pea green combined with a purple/pink. It made me wonder how owner decided on those colours, I really wouldn't want to be that visible.

You were saying that green is an ugly color but I thought that it was yellow that was supposed to be the color of unsafe/accident prone cars. A "lemon", if you will. Also, yellow is known is an angry color (I think) so does the color of a car effect our attitude in it or of others to us or are we more effected by the model? Blue is calming for example...does having a blue car have a calming effect on the driver or those around it?

I think red is a difficult colour to see at dusk / dawn / poor light. I'd not choose a red car for that reason, if I had a choice.

White is best for me, it is hot here and it reflects heat the best. (IMG:http://www.fordforum.org/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I've seen various studies about colors of cars done....like whether driving/seeing red cars makes a person drive more aggressively. I don't know how much truth is any of them, though.

The blackest black is the ideal colour for any car.Any dust ,lint or nuisances are not clearly on the colour. This black colour keeps the car exceptionally clean.

You are probably right about black not showing the dirt, I find that my metallic blue car doesn't show the dirt very much. I am now wondering what the best interior colour is, mine is grey and caracole and unfortunately it does show the dirt, and with a young family there are plenty of dirty marks.
