Hello, I'm considering getting an expedition but I'm worried about the gas consumption since I commute 30 minutes on the freeway to work. what is the insurance rate like on these?

Go for it. The gas is not that bad. I bought mine about 2 weeks ago. Black xlt 4.6 popular with buckets and cd changer for 29000. As far as insurance. Im paying about $115, but planning on changing to GMAC. Got a rate for $89/month. Pretty good. State minimums with 0 deductibles for comprehensive, and collision.

Hey, I just turned in a lease on a '99 Expy and getting another one, found it at www.swapalease.com. Only $390/mo. for 34 months, and I get about 1200 miles/month. XLT with leather and 10-cd changer. I just have one issue, when the gas goes above $1.50/gallon, it goes into the garage until the "All-clear" sign goes up :-) Enjoy!!

RE: thinking about getting one. I have a 99 expy 4x4 eb 5.4. Have not had to fix one thing. I get lousy mileage (11 mpg) but I'm a leadfoot. The only wierd thing is the wipers go on their own once in a while. I understand this is a common problem. I would suggest you think more about comfort and safety than mpg. None of the SUV's are great mileage wise. The expy is built like a brick house! It starts with the F150 frame, but they "box" the rails, making for a super strong chassis. Trust me, I crashed one. I rear ended one of those little Chevy Blazers. The Blazer wrinkled up like a cheap suit. I totalled it. Crushed in the whole back end, pushed it into a little Honda Civic and peeled back the trunmk lid on it like a beer can! The air bags worked as designed, I had no injuries except a sore thumb from the steering wheel. And get this: the dude in the Blazer was PISSED because my expy had amost NO body damage. Most of me repairs were because his rear window glass blew all over my hood and windshield, requiring they be repaired/replaced. A VERY VERY safe vehicle.
