I am thinking about (when I get the $$$)putting a 5.0 engine in my '86 LX. Right now I am running a 3.8L v6 with the stock exhaust. What is the average cost of a 5.0 engine?Do I have to get a new exhaust (which I want to get anyhow)? Will it even fit in my car?Do I have to get a new transmission? If so,do I have to change it from automatic to manual? What other components would I have to get to go with the 5.0 (new oil pan, etc)?

There have been a lot of articles written 'bout it. Transmission will need to be swapped, new rear end, exhaust, motor mounts, computer. 5.0 and SuperFord wrote a great article less than a year ago about everything needed to do the swap. The great thing about the smaller engined cars is they aren't beaten on like a 5.0, so you'll have a fresher canvas to start with. Russell
