anybody ever had any problems with they're throttle plate gettin stuck open? mine did that today. i had to pull over cause my car was tweakin. it ran up to 7000 by the time i was able to shut it down. i had to pull off the airbox assembly and clean out around the throttle plate. what would cause such a buildup of carbon inside there? any answers would be appreciated. thanx Chris Dayton, OH 96 se low, wheels wing, bla bla bla and a bunch of stuff to list

Believe that build-up of carbon on the throtle-plate is caused by the PCV connection. At any rate, the throttle-plate should be cleaned periodically; you can do this with a rag soaked with carburetor cleaner (after removing the intake connection to the air filter box). Apparently Corvettes have this same problem - their throttle-plates have to be cleaned about every 60,000 miles. Mike Topeka KS 1994 base >

thanx mike mines only got a little under 40,000 original miles but i'll do that to play it safe. it seems to be working fine now since i did that yesterday after the problem occured. Chris, Dayton OH 96 se low, 17's, stereo and more. . .
