A LOT, and multiply that LOT by 10 and that'll be how much it'll cost.  But if you got the mula, go ahead and do it.  You'll probably not have your motor for a good while because you'll need to take the head to a machine shop and have them do a crap load of work to it.

well, i think 300Hp out of a 4 cilinder 2.0 engine isn't out of the question, but you have to modify the engine (shorten the piston run amongst other things) in addition to installing some kind of forced induction system AND virtually strip the car to the bone. Of course you also gotta think of the abuse the engine is gonna take, it might last you a year and a half, maybe less. Anything closer to 600Hp i would guess you would have to get a bigger engine and some form of alcohol fuel system, of course then the car would only be good for 1/4 mile races. And either way you also have to modify the transmission, the clutch, the braking system, emissions, suspension, probably would need to add a roll cage and a whole bunch of other stuff i can't even think of, if you ever do embark on this quest, than i hope you don't have kids because there's not gonna be much left for the collage fund.....
