some swine threw the remains of their takeaway on my paintwork last night, and when I cleaned it off this morning the slice of tomato had eaten away the top layer of paint. It must have been the acid, but I never realised it would do that. It's a perfect print of a tomato. It'd be quite impressive if I wasn't so furious.

I'll wax with Meguiars, but I can't imagine it'll disappear completely.

Who would do that to a Ford? There really are some annoying people out there. Sorry to hear about the damage to youe paintwork and I hope you can managed to get it sorted out. Never would have thought a tomatoe would do that to a car!

I would have never thought that a tomato would do that either. I am sorry that this happened to you. All because someone was to lazy to wait and throw their garbage in the trash. Man that burns me.

A tomato seems so innocent, It is surprising how much damage thoughtless behaviour like that can do. I once had an egg thrown at my car, it had dried before I saw it and it proved very difficult to remove the egg without damaging the paintwork. A friend's paintwork was damaged by a bird dropping (it had been eating berries) it was put right at one of those places that get rid of scratches.

How rude! I wonder if the person who threw it out knew that tomatoes would damage the paint.

I doubt it. I'd never have guessed something as seemingly innocent as tomato would do damage! I expect it was just thoughtlessness & my bad luck.

Have you had any success getting the tomato mark off your car, I hope you found a way to deal with it. Pleas let us know what you used.

I've used T-Cut which has made it a bit less obvious but unfortunately it's a mettalic paint and the tomato has taken off a layer of paint. I think the only way to completley get rid of it would be a respray.

I have never heard of T-Cut before? I will have to remember this product just in case. Again I am sorry to hear that you had this happen.

My car has metallic paint and I got a nasty mark on the paint work but I took it to one of those places that re paint scratches and they did an amazing job. It was so good that you couldn't tell there had ever been a problem. It was a fraction of the price of a respray, so it would be worth checking this out before paying a fortune for a respray.

That's worth knowing for the future, though I won't be bothering to get this particular mark sorted as the car isn't worth spending the money on. I always thought that metallic paint was very hard to match but maybe the techniques have come on a bit since I last investigated. Thanks for the pointer!

I to thought metallic paint was hard to match. That is great to know for the future. Would save a lot of money if you ever needed to get something fixed. Thanks for sharing.
