Recently at a tune-up at pepboys i was told that my check engine light ( which was coming on now and then) was caused by a fault in my traction control. Traction control? i never knew i had traction control. My question is do i? I have a 94 SE. I've never heard of it. Do i? DaveT32

Almost every time i step on the gas, especially on hot days, their is a pinging sound comming from under the gas pedal area. what is it? does anyone else have it? On of my friends said it could be low octane gas. I only have a 2.0 so do i really need more than regular? Other people said my catilitic converter could be bad? any suggestions would be helpful. thanks DaveT32

My car doesnt have any traction control, and the brochures I have on the Probe models never listed it as an option either. Sounds like its time to find a new place to get a tune up. I would try 92 octane gas and see if that makes a difference. If it makes a big difference, it's the gas. a lot of people report pinging disapearring after using 92 ocatane, or 89. But try 92 first. - Sergio 93 Probe SE 5spd. >
