i can't remember the costs that people were talking about on www.probetalk.com i would go to that website and search around the 2.0L maintenance section. there is at least one person who has done the ATX to MTX tranny switch. i can't remember how much it was or if a "home mechanic" can do it. just check out that site and most of your questions will be answered. yea man, i had mine rebuilt for $1100.  The tranny lasted 5k miles then they
had to install a factory rebuilt tranny the cost of that was like $1950 but
the warranty from the tranny shop covered it.  Again, that tanny lasted about
8k miles then it went caput. It shifted very hard a reverse started going
out.  So they installed another rebuilt tranny that i have 4k miles on...i
hope it lasts.  I guess i just have shitty luck.  Switching to a manual would
be a pain in the ass. U have to change the computer, booster and lots of
modifying to the floorpan...i heard the front end and axles are a little
different.  Good Luck!!
