hello everyone. my friend just recently had the O/D OFF light start blinking in his van (3.0L engine). took it to the dealer for a diagnostics and they're telling him it will cost around $2500 to fix/replace the tranny. anyone else have this same problem and is it something that can be fixed for a lot less than $2500? any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks!!!

i had the same problem I was told after spending $200+ on a speed sensor that It would cost $2700 for a rebuilt tranny. Last ditch effort I Had a mechanic remove all the wiring connectors to and from tranny etc. , clean and apply electrical grease. That was two years ago 20,000miles not one problem since. Try it cost me $25.

I have a 99 Windstar the same thing happened to and had to have the tranny rebuilt. 10 months later it happened again. Aamco rebuilt the tranny again (under warranty since they did it the first time). Have not had anymore problems in over a year.
