I went to the body shop today to get an estimate on paint and asked them to include a price on trimming the rear fenders and installing flares. He said they do not like to do it because it is so damn hard. I was shocked, to say the least. Is it really so hard? Is there some literature out on the web to make this easier. Perhaps a template, etc.? I have no choice but to cut mine because I am going to kill my new 35s if I do not. Does anyone have any bad experiences that they have learned from in performing this modification? Any thoughts? Thanks, Mike

Trimming the fenders for flares is a piece of cake. Precise instructions should come with the flares unless you buy them used. I'm very suprised that a body shop declined. What I did (after cutting the fenders with a fine tooth sabre saw) is rivit the flares to the inside of the fender using countersunk head pop rivits then used bondo to blend the fenders to the flares. I saw this done years ago and just had to try it. The flares and body are painted the same color. The finished job is beautiful, it looks factory. No bad experiences here - just go for it.
