Nope, but I was thinking of getting the Steeda set myself... If you go to www.mustangworld.com they have a nice "How-To" article on installing them. It's pretty straight-forward... Good luck, let me know how it goes!

Signed,
Brian

just a quick note: they do provide some performance benefits.. but they also do not allow your alternator to work properly (see: dead battery and dimming headlights) and also don't allow the water pump to pump enough water (see: overheating). if you're going to be racing, thus removing alot of parts and changing alternator/radiator, blah, blah, then cool. if not, i don't know if i would trust the reliability of the engine/alt regarding day-to-day driving.... kaj

Again, if you buy the Steeda/March/Asp pulleys, you will not have overheating problems, nor will you have to change out your alternator unless you're sucking serious juice via a stereo system, etc. The only time you don't want to change out your pulleys, is in supercharged or turbocharged applications, typically. The overheating & alternator myths are just that - myths. If you're THAT concerned about your car running warmer, add some RedLine Water Wetter - this will make your car run cooler (it's what I did, and now my car runs cooler with the pulleys, than before I installed them without the water wetter). Coupled with the Steeda Timing Adjuster, the two mods will give you significant torque and horsepower gains. Many N/A 'Stangs are using this combination with great success, and I personally highly recommend it if you're planning on staying naturally aspirated. The only drawback to the Timing Adjuster is that you need to run Premium gas, but the extra 5-10 cents per gallon is worth it, IMHO. ~Brian

i may check that out.. except for the the timing adjuster. it would cause detonation when the NOS is activated. but i'll look into the other pulleys and ESPECIALLY the water wetter.. hehe. funny name kaj750

Cool - let me know if you have any questions on the install, etc - I've done it about 4 times between 99+ GTs and an '01 Cobra, so I can give ya some good hints/tips/tricks... ;) ~Brian http://www.centralcoaststangs.com

i'll be ordering the pulleys in the next three weeks, so any hints you have would be helpful. one thing i've learned is that instructions don't tell EVERYTHING. also, will the kits give you a part number for the new belt? jason

No sweat. I'm actually in the middle of writing up a "how-to" article, 'cause the ones I got off stangnet.com and mustangworld.com didn't give me all the tips I needed. Well, the biggest most helpful hints I have are, #1: When removing the crankshaft pulley bolt (sometimes it's in there pretty tight), put your car in 5th gear to prevent it from rolling. On my friend's '01 Cobra, we orginally had it in 1st gear, and we kept making the car roll... It was funny, but annoying - we couldn't get the bolt out. #2: Make SURE that once you remove the crankshaft pulley bolt, you also remove the thick washer that goes with it (you might need to pry it off with a flat-head screwdriver). The first mistake we made (the first time we tried this) was we didn't remove that washer, and we tried for HOURS to get the pulley off, and it wouldn't come (this was on my '00 GT). We found that it was because of that washer. After removing it on our 2nd attempt, the whole job took 30 minutes from start to finish. #3: When installing the new crankshaft pulley, use the black silicon sealant. It's less than $2.00 at Kragen I believe... #4: And while you're there, pick up a harmonic balancer puller (or borrow one from somebody). You HAVE TO have this. #5: Rent or Borrow an impact gun (we used an electric one and it worked like a champ!!) This will be used for the alternator pulley. If you have an automatic, you will need it for the crankshaft pulley as well. Make sure you get a 'gun' that does it from the side (looks kinda like a fat torwue-wrench), otherwise you won't be able to get to it. Hopefully I'll get that "how-to" written up soon. I'll post it on my website when it's finished. The site's down at the moment, but will be back up shortly. http://www.centralcoaststangs.com Regards, Brian
