hey i dont know about what all it takes to remove the top but i do remember that on the first crown i had, 83' 2 door had a small hole in the vinyl and you could see the paint under it,same color as the car. i know that the car had not been wrecked and that the top had not been replaced so that should be the way they are from the factory. i also remember that the paint under there looked fresh and brand new i wish the rest of the car had looked that way,hope that helps. I've never taken a vinyl top off, but I have seen a car that had been stripped of its vinyl. There was a very hard black adhesive where the top used to be, and under that adhesive was paint that looked like it was close to the color of the rest of the car.
