I have a 93' t-bird with the 5.0 liter V8. The oil pump went out and I was removing the water pump to inspect the water passeges when I broke the 2 top outside bolts. The timing chain cover will not come off. Do i need to remove the motor and take it somewhere to have the bolts drilled out? I have to remove the motor anyways.

if it was me, i would cut out the timing cover or break it off and try to remove the bolts with vise grips before I spent the $ to have a machine shop drill the bolts out. The timing cover would be cheaper and it gives you a reason to put on a fancy chrome cover :} good luck Jack

Is there anyone that has heard of reverse thread screws that unscrew broken bolts out? You can pick them up at any auto parts store. What you do is drill a small hole into the broken bolt about 1/4" wide. Then you buy these bolts that tighten counterclockwise down into the broken bolt you put a hole in and just like that the broken bolt starts to come out. These little screws have saved my ass a few times. They work very well and is way more inexpensive than what you mentioned. Try it. big_country_ch19
