I have been reading up on the Weapon-R V2 install for the 4cyl. I have been reading about that the install will sit where the current air box is and that it would not get the best cold air because it will be using the air from the engine. I also read there is a way to add a cold air pipe to this set up. Has anyone done this, or would the best possibility be to just put a heat shield up between the engine and the new intake? Thanks.   -Mike

I modified my Weapon R into a cold air system.  I ran a pipe I bought at Home Depot down and out the bottom and attached it to the filter.  It was cheap and easy.  Check out my web page if you want to see a pic.  http://www.plu.edu/~brooksjt/probe.html Also, for everybody else, I just got a page up dedicated to my performance mods.  It might help some of you with some ideas.  Later.   Jordan 94 Base

Yeah, if i got the intake I'd go with the cold air pipe. I mean, a heat shield is a good idea but it would probably just stop heat from reaching the filter. The air would still be warm and that's what you'd get when it circulated....see what I'm saying. -Josh >

Also, you don't want the pipe to be too short. I lost a lot of torque before I modified the intake. Later. Jordan

When you say that you have a cold air pipe, does that mean that the cone filter in front is connected to another pipe that pipes in cold air, or do you use the original air equipment that is attached in the front of the car, that originally was piped to the stock air box. Just wondering. I am learning about this car stuff slowly but surely, thanks! -Mike

Jordan has the Weapon R and modified it to run down to the splashgaurd in front of the tranny to get cold air.  The filter is attached at that location.  Looks great and works well.  Far superior to the standard weapon r intake.

Im about to attempt to extend the Weapon-R intake pipe by welding a piece of stainless steel pipe that will extend out and down. Any suggestions on how to go about this such as how long the pipe should be and at what angle should it be rolled? Wilson 97 base

I don't know if you need to use the stainless steel pipe. I simply used some pipe from Home Depot. It won't get hot. That's the main reason I used it. It only cost about $10 too. You can extend the pipe as long as you want. My filter sticks down about 1-2 inches from the splash guard. I had to cut out a little bit of the splash guard, but that's not really too big of a deal. There's only one real path you can send the pipe down because of space restrictions. My pipe has a 90 degree elbow on it if that helps you any. Hope this helps. You can see pics of mine on my site. I was looking at your pictures, but they weren't very clear near the intake, unless I missed them. Im using stainless because its not going to cost me anything anyway. And whats with the weapon-r website showing pictures of the hyperintake with a nice long pipe on it? All I got was an elbow, a filter and some brackets. wilson 97 base

Weapon-R originally designed everything for the typical Honda/Acura market. After a few requests, I'm sure that they just slapped some of those parts together, found an elbow that kinda fit and called it a custom intake for our car. I was expecting the longer pipe as well, but I was disappointed just like you. Oh well. It works fine now. Just make sure your pipe doesn't get too hot. Later.
