Its not considered a "composite", its simply polyethylene, which is a
thermoplastic commonly used in the automotive industry because it is
unaffected by water and a large range of chemicals. Nice thing about
polyethylene is that its thermal conductivity is about 200 times less
than Aluminum, making it an excellant choice for a "cold" air
intake. Unfortunately, polyethylene deteriates over time, just like
about any "plastic" part does. Being exposed to oxygen and heat it
just degrades, but I would imagine your car will mostly likely be
gone before you see that happen, because that "process" may take 10
years.
