I have a 2002 ford escort and when I go to push on the brakes the car shakes a little and then it will shut off. It do not shake when I driving it down the road, it ownly do it when I come to a stop

if you have an auto trans, it sounds like your torque convertor is staying "locked-up." Could be a convertor, internal trans problem, or electrical--none of which are cheap. You need a reputable shop/dealer to diagnose it.
