Hey everyone, I own a blue 2001 ZX3 (hatchback) Focus. I have had a few problems with it and I have only had it since December. First off, I kind of have a blind spot looking out the front window, not the rear one, because when you are trying to see to your left, in the driver's seat, that thing that connects the roof and front window or whatever it is called blocks your view. Another thing is I have had quite a bit of trouble judging how much distance to leave when driving, because you cant see the front of your car unless you completely jump out of your seat. Just this past week I rear ended someone, but luckily it just scratched the front up a little and did nothing to their truck. In a school parking lot when everyone is trying to get out at the same time it makes it real hard not to get right on top of someone. Has anyone else had similar problems or am I just a bad driver? LOL, don't answer that last part. Thanks.

I've also had problems with the hood disappearing because of it's curvature, but I just eventually got used to it. I think most cars now a days have curved hoods for aerodynamics and it just takes getting used to. Luckily, I haven't hit anyone yet. In terms of the front pillar, I haven't had any problems looking left yet. I'll check that out when I drive my ZX3 later.

The A-pillar is a bit intrusive. You just have to put your neck on a swivel to drive these cars. Finding your front end just takes practice. I pulled my ZX-3 to within an inch of my wife's SE's bumper in the garage the other night with no spotter.

I agree with getting used to the front end. Everyone who rides with me thinks I am tailgating when I am not, it is just that they can't see the nose of my car. However, I have mad myself very aware and make it a purpose to try to stay back. Good Luck!

Yes mine does. and when that starts to happen with in a couple of weeks it does not start at all and it gets towed to the dealership. When it first started hesitating, they changed a spark plug. Then it cleared up for a short time. Now, it is hesitating again. I am just waiting to have to tow it back to the dealership.

Yes, mine does also. Has done it since new. I think it has something to do with the EGR valve. I'll be cheecking it out this weekend to find out for sure.

Not to sound dumb, but what is an EGR valve. I am taking mine back to the dealership on Monday, April 30 and would like to tell them that. My car has done this since new too.

Not a prob my friend. I've been fixing cars professionally all my adult life. EGR stands for Exhaust Gas Recirculation. It allows a certain amount of exhaust to go back into the intake system to reduce emissions. If theres too much EGR than it can cause a surge or hesitation. I suspect thats whats causing my surge prob on my ZX3. I'll be testing it this weekend to be sure. I'll let you know this weekend after I find out. I'm a certified Master Tech working for a independant shop. Its under warranty so I won't repair anything, I'll just let the dealership know what I found. I'll keep ya posted

Del

Any luck? Took my car to the dealership, they would not even look at the EGR valve because a code would not come up when they hooked the car up to the computer.
Thanks.

Sorry friend but I got busy and wasn't able to find the time this last weekend to check it out. I will this Saturday for sure and I will get back to you with the results. When you took it to the dealer did they find anything at all that might cause the hesitation? I had a full plate this last weekend but I'll have some answer for you tomorrow evening.

Thanks and C ya
